Many women think they are menopausal when they begin experiencing irregular periods sometime around their 40s. Hormone replacement therapy was once the most common form of treatment for this symptom. However, research has shown that the risks associated with this treatment may far outweigh the benefits. For this reason, many women have begun seeking various natural menopause treatments instead. Below we will look at some of the most effective natural menopause treatments.

Since one of the most common symptoms of menopause is mood swings, many women have found success treating it with aromatherapy. This is basically the use of essential oils from various plants and herbs. These substances are used in a variety of ways to heal and treat various physical conditions. Sometimes the pleasant aromas are inhaled to induce a relaxed state. Other forms of aromatherapy involve massaging the oils directly into the skin. Still others are ingested in the form of teas. Herbs used for this natural menopause treatment include lavender, cypress, and Clary sage.

Homeopathy is another popular form of natural menopause treatment. The idea behind this type of treatment is to use whatever is causing the condition to treat the condition. Menopause symptoms can be treated in this manner by using things such as foods that contain estrogen. The idea here is to compensate for the loss of estrogen that usually occurs during menopause.

Many women prefer natural menopause treatments instead of taking an actual menopause drug. Obviously, anything you put in your body that is natural will be better for you than something concocted in a lab somewhere.

The best thing to do when seeking treatment for menopause is sit down with your doctor and discuss the options available to you. Your doctor can evaluate your situation and make recommendations for the best treatment for your individual needs. Together, you can determine the severity of your symptoms and decide what type of treatment is best suited for you. It may also be that your symptoms are not severe enough to justify pursuing any treatment at all.
